Nicos father owns a flight school and works as a flight instructor, so flying was practically in his blood from the very beginning. Besides flying, he was highly talented in football and played from U9 to U18 at the highest level in Switzerland. However, his passion for flying and for nature kept growing, until he eventually found himself flying almost exclusively in the mountains.
He was able to transfer the discipline he had developed in competitive sports to paragliding, and his results in Hike & Fly competitions have improved season after season. This year, he took over his father’s flight school, which makes him incredibly proud to continue the family business.
He also loves to travel. In his case, however, his checked luggage consists of his paragliding equipment—his clothes and anything else that fits simply go into his carry-on bag. In this way, he has already traveled to every continent in the world.
To be honest, not really. I was still a little boy. I was three years old during my first tandem flight with my father, and six years old on my first solo flight. Of course, that wasn’t in Switzerland ;) I was able to discover my love for flying at a very early age, and for me there is nothing more beautiful than being in the air.
There are many. My first crossing of the Alps was very special. What I truly enjoy are the shared flights with my little brother Lars. Whether it’s acro, XC, Hike & Fly, or a relaxed glide along the dunes. What matters is flying side by side, wing to wing, through the air. That’s what makes us happy.
The Jura; this is where I grew up and learned to fly. Then the Bernese Oberland. And I also love flying at the dunes. No matter where, wherever the wind is right, that’s where you’ll find me.
I have taken over the paragliding school (Flugschule Jura) from my father, so my life always revolves around flying, even when it’s not flyable. On those days, I’m at the school, carrying out glider checks, answering emails and handling invoices, planning and organizing training for our students, flight trips, camps, safety trainings, etc. Apart from work, I like to spend my free time outdoors doing sports and being with family and friends.
For me, Advance stands for high quality and excellent products. The team and the pilots behind it are very likeable, and over time, good friendships have developed.
I really enjoy Italian cuisine. Whether pasta, pizza, or anything else. But my mom’s and dad’s cooking is hard to beat!
May the wind be your spirit.
