La Flying Light

Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc (France)

https://st-gervais-vol-libre.fr/

For many years, the Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc Vol Libre Club has organized the "4807 Flying Light" event in early October.

Since autumn 2008, this week-long event has been the new version of the legendary "Vol Mont-Blanc 4807", which ran from 1986 to 2007.

Throughout the week, a variety of hike-and-fly outings are organized, giving pilots the opportunity to test lightweight equipment exclusively (wings, harnesses, and accessories). Our partner brands showcase their latest products and innovations, allowing participants to experience lightweight gear in real flying conditions.

Every evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the Light Gear Expo is open at the Espace Mont-Blanc, located in the heart of Saint-Gervais village. Pilots can meet the participating brands, discuss equipment, and borrow a lightweight wing to test on the following day's hike-and-fly.

A weather briefing is held each evening at 6:15 pm, followed by a presentation of the next day's routes, including meeting points, take-off and landing sites, and suggested itineraries. Each hike is designed to be accessible to pilots of all levels while respecting the mountain environment. All participants take part under their own responsibility.

For high-mountain flights, and especially any attempt on Mont Blanc, the organizers emphasize that climbing teams must be fully self-sufficient in terms of equipment, physical and technical ability, and decision-making.

We look forward to welcoming you soon for some unforgettable hike-and-fly adventures at the foot of Mont Blanc!
